Community and Environment

At Octavia we bring a real hands-on approach to the communities with whom we work. We are committed to investing directly in the future of the local people who are vital to sustaining our own success, and delivering truly long-term mutual growth and economic empowerment.

Our Local-first Hiring Policy

We operate a local-first approach to hiring and training of technical roles in the Republic of Yemen, creating both direct and indirect employment opportunities for local workers.

Our Community Programme

We operate a wide ranging community program in the Republic of Yemen, where we invest in existing and potential neighbour operations and projects. We continually work to expand this programme to deliver greater support to the surrounding areas

 

Our Contributions to the Local Yemen Community Include:

  • Creating a fresh water supply in hardship areas
  • Supporting primary and secondary education programmes to prepare young people in the community for further vocational training
  • In-field and in-office training in geophysics, geology, and technical and support services for the oil and
    gas industry
  • ‘Above and beyond’ commitment to job stability and security for all Octavia employees
  • Supply of medical equipment and support to the Covid Quarantine Centre in Seyun

The Environment

We work to minimize the impacts of our operations on the environment in all our operations we do at Octavia Energy. Our senior leadership team ensure that we meet or exceed all environmental regulation, conserve resources, enhance local areas and deliver correct site abandonment and reclamation practices.

Health and Safety

Safety is an integral part of Octavia Energy’s activities. Our safety programs protect not only the Company and its employees from the impact of potential accidents., but also the communities with whom we work and the environment.

Octavia Energy’s management team is committed to continually improving safety standards, programs, training, awareness, and, most importantly, the safety of its employees and contractor’s employees. Our experienced HSE manager holds regular drilling meetings and training for all employees to ensure their workplace safety and continuing health in accordance with company policy.

Safe and sustainable environmental practices are a vital element in the viability of today’s oil and gas industry. The Octavia team are proud that:

  • We have maintained a record of zero spills on all of our sites
  • All water and gas produced is injected back into the reservoir in a closed system, to support resevoir pressure.
  • No wastewater is left exposed on the ground
  • Two lined ponds are used during drilling and workover operations to prevent soil contamination
  • A pressurized firefighting water network is in place, serving all facilities and operating automatically through sensors.
